LONELY IN LAS VEGAS-Summary

Hard to imagine anyone being alone in one of the biggest, most glamorous cities in the world?  Meet Johnny.  Well, maybe you already have.  Johnny has a bad habit of dating the visitors who come to Las Vegas in droves every weekend.  Meets a new guy on Friday, says goodbye on Monday.  Frequently.  Almost every weekend.  But why?

Because it means he can avoid the real problem.  Johnny is afraid to fall in love.  He is afraid to get close to another guy because he feels incredibly guilty about something that happened in his past.  And when the anniversary of that tragedy approaches, Johnny finds himself again spiraling down on a road of self hate, guilt and haunting memories.  That is until he meets Craig, a casino dealer who may just be the guy who redeems Johnny and brings him back to life.

LONELY IN LAS VEGAS is a sad but sweet melodrama that is a love story times two.  Johnny and Craig in the present.  And Johnny and Karl in the past as high school teenagers falling in love for the very first time.  But this script is also about life.  And how life goes on no matter if the curves that we are thrown are devastating and brutal and unfair.  But once we come to terms with the world's surprises, then we can truly go about the business of living.

LONELY IN LAS VEGAS is the type of independent film that perfectly defines the genre.  A strong single lead with wonderful supporting characters.  It's funny, sad, touching, uplifting and romantic.  And even though it's set in Sin City, no one wins the jackpot or beats the dealer.  It's a story of real people and real situations.  Bring your Kleenex not because you may cry, but because you will recognize yourself or someone you know.

You know, we can all find ourselves lonely in this world – Las Vegas or anywhere else.  Just like Johnny.  Or his aging father.  Or his newly gay co-worker.  But the most important thing is to treasure what indeed makes us human.  And as lonely as we think we are, we are actually the farthest from it.

WHY IT WILL WORK:  In the tradition of touching and sensitive gay movies like BIG EDEN,  EDGE OF SEVENTEEN and LATTER DAYS, this is a character drama.  No drugs, no circuit parties, no West Hollywood.  Just romance, realism and truth.  Get ready for a good story and a good cry.
